Dear NCSY SUMMER TJJ BUS 11 Parents,
On Sunday, the teens had their first experience at one of the sacred cities if Israel, the holy city of Safed.
The teens were introduced to the idea of spirituality and how Safed became the hub of mysticism in the Jewish faith. Learning about the origins of the Kabbala and hearing the miraculous stories of the holy city was truly eye opening to the teens.
We finished our tour by connecting with the previous generations as we walked through the ancient cemetery of Safed.
Before heading to the Golan Heights for the evening, we visited a center and a scribe who taught the group how to write their names in the Biblical script on parchment. They learned some of the laws of the Torah scroll and phylacteries and how they are made. The teens enjoyed the trivia games and the activities.
All the best and stay tuned!
