NCSY SUMMER TJJ BUS 11: Day 7 Reliving and Understanding the Past

Dear NCSY SUMMER TJJ BUS 11 Parents,

Wednesday was a day focused on understanding how our ancestors lived while having a great time.  We began with donkey riding, grinding our own flour to make pita bread, and having a delicious meal in Kfar Kedem.  We even had the opportunity to send a message on a messenger bird as was done many years ago.

Our next stop was the ancient city of Tzipori, where we learned about the integration in a Jewish Roman city in the Galilee. The city was home of Rabbi Judah the Prince who wrote down the oral tradition and codified the Mishna. We took the opportunity in his synagogue to understand how the oral tradition worked and how the chain is unbroken from Moses at Sinai reaching us today!

We ended the day with some free time at the beach in Tiberias and basketball at night.

The teens were exhausted by the day’s end but were happy with what they accomplished.

All the best.
